Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Spent: Expense Tracker ("Spent," "the App," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms apply to all users of the App, whether using the free version or Spent Pro.

2. Description of Service

Spent is a privacy-first, offline personal finance application that allows you to:

• Track expenses, income, and transfers across multiple accounts
• Scan receipts using on-device OCR
• Set budget goals and saving targets
• Schedule recurring transactions
• Track subscriptions and convert currencies
• View spending reports, insights, and financial personality analysis

All financial data is stored locally on your device using SQLite. Spent does not require an account, login, or internet connection for core functionality.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Spent. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

4. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Extract or attempt to extract the source code
• Use the App for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose
• Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the App

5. Spent Pro (Premium Subscription)

Spent Pro is available as an in-app purchase through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

• Free Trial: Spent Pro includes a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription.
• Billing: Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID or Google Play account. Renewal occurs automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's App Store or Play Store settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused time.
• Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google per their respective refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.
• Price Changes: We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. You will be notified in advance of any price changes, and continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.

6. Advertisements (Free Version)

The free version of Spent displays advertisements powered by Google AdMob.

• Ads may include banner ads, native ads, interstitial ads, rewarded ads, and app-open ads.
• AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization as described in our Privacy Policy.
• You may remove all advertisements by upgrading to Spent Pro.
• Deliberately interfering with, manipulating, or generating fraudulent interactions with advertisements is prohibited.

7. User Data & Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Key points:

• Local storage only. Your financial data is stored exclusively on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
• No account required. Spent does not require registration, login, or any personally identifiable information.
• Your data, your control. You can export or delete all your data at any time from within the App.
• Limited network use. Internet access is used only for exchange rate fetching and ad serving (free version). Core App functionality works entirely offline.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, icons, interface, and content, is owned by Rahul Bhichher and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

"Spent," the Spent logo, and all related marks are trademarks of Rahul Bhichher. You may not use these marks without prior written permission.

9. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the App only for lawful personal finance tracking purposes
• Maintain the security of your device and any biometric lock or PIN you configure
• Ensure the accuracy of the financial data you enter
• Keep your device's operating system reasonably up to date for security and compatibility

You understand that Spent is a tracking and budgeting tool, not a financial advisor. The App does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components
• Calculations, reports, or insights will be perfectly accurate
• The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions
• Exchange rates provided will reflect real-time market rates

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL RAHUL BHICHHER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES ARISING FROM:

• Your use of or inability to use the App
• Errors in calculations, reports, or financial insights
• Data loss due to device failure, uninstallation, or corruption
• Unauthorized access to your device
• Interruptions or errors in exchange rate services

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for Spent Pro in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $10 USD, whichever is greater.

12. Data Loss

Because Spent stores all data locally on your device, you are solely responsible for backing up your data. We are not responsible for data loss caused by:

• Device loss, theft, damage, or failure
• Operating system updates or factory resets
• App uninstallation
• Corruption of the local database

We recommend regularly exporting your data using the App's built-in CSV or PDF export features.

13. Third-Party Services

Spent integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob — Ad serving (free version). Subject to Google's Terms of Service.
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store — Distribution and in-app purchases. Subject to the respective platform's terms.
• Exchange Rate API — Currency conversion via a Cloudflare Workers proxy. Rates are indicative and may not reflect exact real-time market values.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.

14. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App or any features if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the App is revoked immediately.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you through the App or via the App Store/Play Store update notes.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Rahul Bhichher regarding the use of Spent and supersede all prior agreements.
